Tip to Toe Polish

The latest "scribble" print version of my silk "Deb" dress for Fall, a versatile --and very Parisian  -- variation on the little black dress...

Using Chanel nail polish color as inspiration, here's my wish-list of fabulous footwear to wear with this flattering silhouette.  Interesting to see how each choice completely changes the look:

A sleek oxford or ballet flat, gives this dress a fresh, modern flair and stays casual.

A slim, simple black pump or strappy sandal turns it classically elegant and more dressy. 

Combining bold color with a sculptural, elaborate heel makes the outfit very on-trend and chic.

Now the question is...how to choose?

Fun French Shoes: taking votes

 
Eureka! 

I just discovered some delightfuly stylish shoes from a French company that are also really comfortable -- a major find!

I'm about to order this adorable deep pink suede number and wondered if anyone else would like a pair?

Apart from their saucy French appeal, they are amazingly light weight with a specially designed flexible sole making them really comfortable.  The heel height is only about 2 inches with an added inch of lift from the well balanced platform  from front to back .

They are very true to size --I tried on the 37 sample and it is just a little small --which makes sense since I am a 7 1/2 but the good news is they come in half sizes.

I also fell for this one: a glazed mini-check that works as an unexpected neutral and again, incredibly comfortable.

Of course, with all these  fabulous attributes, they are not the cheapest shoes on the planet -- the suggested retail is $300. 

But here's the good news: If I order 8 pairs in each style, I can offer them for $250.

Barbie: Cat Burglar in Paris

 

 

Last year, Christian Louboutin feted Barbie's 50th bycreating very sophisticated looks and shoes quite  different than her usual wardrobe. 

The unexpected Parisian vignettes are fun even if it verges on the  dopey with him co-starring in the action...Barbie does her job  and steals the show

Would probably be worn with a vaguely rumpled sweater and understated little skirt or slim pant

Shoes at a French Wedding

Maryjanes and slingbacks...usually a ho-hum category...but not here:

 

Pas du tout!

Not just any old maryjanes: Blue suede, peeptoe maryjanes

Slingbacks boring? Not this pair in bright red, with black rosettes, black piping and a cute black button

And love the  Bleu, blanc,  rouge, bien sur!

I love: Red Shoes

Red shoes look so great with jeans or head to toe black. Or white.  Or Polka dots, or...

Here's my current favorite:

 
I found these in France last year and instantly fell in love with the 1940's pin-up vibe.

Plus they give height without pitching my feet at a painful angle becasue they're essentially flat.

A matter of Taste -- and style: Fulvio Bonavia

I just started wearing ballet flats again and it made me think of these great pictures from " A Matter of Taste" by Italian photographer Fulvio Bonavia  -- these are made of  eggplants!
